Managing Associate - Banking & Finance - Exeter

A leading Top 100 UK law firm with a strong regional heritage and national reputation is seeking a Managing Associate to join its highly regarded Banking & Finance team. Consistently recognised by Legal 500 and Chambers, the firm advises businesses, financial institutions, investors and private clients on complex and commercially significant matters across the UK and internationally.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative and ambitious team known for its work on high-value, sophisticated transactions, particularly across sustainable finance, impact investment, real estate finance, private wealth and international matters.

The Role
You'll take a leading role on a broad range of banking and finance transactions, working closely with an established client base that includes banks, alternative lenders, investors, developers, family offices and corporate borrowers.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading complex finance transaction s from inception through to completion.
  • Advising lenders and borrowers on new lending arrangements, refinancings and restructurings.
  • Working on real estate finance, acquisition finance, development finance, project finance and corporate lending matters.
  • Drafting and negotiating finance documentation, security packages and related agreements.
  • Managing transaction workstreams and coordinating teams across Corporate, Real Estate and Private Wealth.
  • Supporting domestic and cross-border transactions.
  • Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers.
  • Contributing to business development initiatives and the continued growth of the practice.


Candidate Requirements

  • 7+ years' PQE within Banking & Finance.
  • A strong track record of leading and managing complex finance transactions.
  • Experience advising lenders, borrowers, investors or financial institutions.
  • Strong technical drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Experience supervising and developing junior lawyers.
  • Strong relationship-building and client management skills.
