Reading (Hybrid)

Salary dependent on experience

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Solicitor or Legal Executive to join a highly regarded Community Care & Welfare team.

This role offers the chance to work within a specialist practice recognised by both Chambers and Legal 500, advising Court of Protection Deputies, vulnerable individuals and professionals on a wide range of community care, welfare and public law matters.

You will manage your own caseload of privately funded clients and play a key role in the continued growth of the team. The work is varied and often complex, involving a combination of Community Care, Court of Protection and public law issues affecting children and adults living with disabilities, injuries or illnesses.

The successful candidate will have experience in Community Care/Public Law and/or Court of Protection matters, including issues relating to Health & Welfare and Property & Affairs. Experience working with Court of Protection Deputies, their clients and professionals such as case managers is highly desirable.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a complex caseload of Community Care and Court of Protection matters with minimal supervision
  • Advising privately funded clients on community care, welfare and public law issues
  • Representing clients at assessments, appeals, tribunals and court hearings
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents and correspondence
  • Supervising and mentoring junior fee earners and support staff
  • Assisting with business development and marketing initiatives
  • Contributing to the growth and strategic development of the department
  • Maintaining the highest standards of client care and compliance

Candidates should possess strong advocacy, communication and negotiation skills, together with excellent organisational abilities and a client-focused approach. Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers would be particularly advantageous.

Experience in Special Educational Needs law and/or wider Court of Protection Property & Affairs work would be beneficial but is not essential.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking and collaborative team, offering high-quality work, genuine progression prospects and a flexible hybrid working environment.
