Solicitor - Public Law & Human Rights (Court of Protection - Health & Welfare) - Bristol
Location: Bristol
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £55,000 - £70,000 (depending on experience)

A leading national law firm is seeking a Solicitor (NQ-4 PQE) to join its highly regarded Public Law & Human Rights team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to work on complex, meaningful and high impact Court of Protection Health & Welfare matters within a nationally recognised practice.

The Role
You'll be responsible for managing and supporting a dedicated caseload of Court of Protection Health & Welfare matters, including:

  • Section 21A challenges to deprivation of liberty
  • Best interests applications relating to residence, care, contact and medical treatment
  • Capacity disputes
  • Safeguarding and risk related matters
  • Supporting vulnerable adults with complex needs


You will work closely with experienced specialists across the national Public Law & Human Rights team, advising vulnerable individuals and their families through sensitive and often life changing circumstances. This role offers exposure to high quality work, strong supervision and excellent opportunities to develop advocacy skills.

Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified Solicitor with:

  • NQ-4 years' PQE
  • Experience in Court of Protection Health & Welfare matters
  • Understanding of the Mental Capacity Act and deprivation of liberty issues
  • Experience working with vulnerable adults and support networks
  • Ability to manage sensitive and complex cases with empathy and professionalism
  • Advocacy experience or willingness to develop advocacy skills
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
