Senior Competition Litigation Lawyer - Cardiff
Senior Associate | Legal Director | Salaried Partner

Join a leading UK law firm with a strong national reputation and a growing presence across multiple offices. Recognised by both the Legal 500 and Chambers, the firm is well known for its expertise in complex claimant litigation, group actions and high-value disputes.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Competition Litigation Lawyer to establish and lead a new claimant-side competition practice. This is a genuine strategic role offering the chance to build a specialist offering from the ground up, supported by an established litigation platform, strong financial backing and a clear commitment to growth.

This position would suit an ambitious Senior Associate, Legal Director or Salaried Partner looking to take ownership of a developing practice area and play a key role in shaping its future direction.

The Role
You will lead the development of a dedicated claimant-side competition litigation workstream, focusing on high-profile and complex matters including:

  • Competition damages claims
  • Collective proceedings before the Competition Appeal Tribunal (CAT)
  • Funded litigation and group actions
  • Opt-in and opt-out collective actions
  • Follow-on and standalone competition claims
  • Strategic case assessment and litigation planning

Working closely with leading Counsel, economists, litigation funders and class representatives, you will help identify opportunities, evaluate potential claims and drive cases from inception through to resolution.

This is not a role centred around inheriting an existing caseload. Instead, it offers the opportunity to build a market-leading practice, develop infrastructure and processes, raise the team's profile, and contribute directly to the firm's long-term growth strategy.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with significant experience in competition litigation
  • Strong understanding of competition damages claims and collective proceedings
  • Experience advising on complex, high-value disputes
  • Commercially minded with an entrepreneurial approach
  • Ability to build relationships with funders, Counsel, experts and key stakeholders
  • Interest in developing and growing a new practice area
  • Proven business development experience would be advantageous

Applications are welcomed from Senior Associate, Legal Director and Partner-level lawyers seeking a platform where they can make a genuine impact.

Why Join?

  • Opportunity to establish and lead a new specialist practice area
  • Backing of a successful and highly respected claimant litigation team
  • High-quality, complex and market-leading work
  • Significant scope for progression and influence
  • Supportive, collaborative and entrepreneurial culture
  • Hybrid and flexible working arrangements
  • Competitive remuneration and benefits package
  • Generous annual leave and wellbeing support

This is a rare opportunity for an experienced competition litigator to join an ambitious, growing firm and play a pivotal role in developing a practice area with significant long-term potential.
