Senior Associate - Private Client
Location: Bournemouth
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £65,000 - £95,000 (depending on experience)

A well established and trusted Private Client team, recognised in the Legal 500 for excellence in Personal Tax, Trusts and Probate, is seeking an experienced Senior Associate to join its highly regarded department. The team advises individuals and families on complex personal affairs and collaborates closely with other specialist teams, including Property, to deliver seamless client service.

The Role
You'll be responsible for advising on a broad range of private client matters, including:

  • Providing expert legal advice to existing clients while developing your own client base
  • Managing complex cases appropriate to your level of experience
  • Drafting and executing all types of Wills
  • Advising on probate matters, including administration of complex estates
  • Advising high net worth clients on tax and lifetime planning
  • Creating and administering trusts
  • Drafting and registering Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Assisting with the registration of Enduring Powers of Attorney
  • Offering practical solutions to defuse conflict and resolve matters through negotiation, mediation or ADR
  • Delivering outstanding client care and maintaining the firm's high professional standards
  • Reporting concerns to the Head of Department where appropriate
  • Supporting marketing, networking and business development initiatives
  • Managing files in accordance with SRA requirements, Law Society protocols, firm procedures and LEXCEL standards


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor or chartered legal executive with:

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
  • STEP accreditation (advantageous)


Knowledge:

  • Excellent understanding of private client law
  • Strong technical skills across wills, tax and probate
  • Commitment to legal research and staying up to date with developments
  • Responsibility for personal and professional development
  • Strong understanding of risk management and compliance


Skills:

  • Resilient, well organised and able to manage a busy caseload
  • Methodical approach with strong prioritisation skills
  • Exceptional client care and relationship building abilities
  • Clear, logical thinker with excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong team player with collaborative mindset
  • Effective drafting and research skills
  • Confident use of IT and case management systems
  • Ability to support business development and promote the team


Experience:

  • Minimum 8 years' PQE within a reputable Private Client department
  • Strong grounding in all aspects of private client work
  • Experience advising on complex matters
  • Experience with Court of Protection applications (e.g., statutory wills)
  • Experience supervising junior team members
