Senior Associate - Employment - Bristol
Location: Bristol
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £70,000 - £85,000 (depending on experience)

A dynamic and forward thinking law firm is seeking an experienced Employment Senior Associate to join its highly regarded Employment team in either Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a collaborative, agile environment, advising on complex employment matters while contributing to the continued growth of a nationally recognised practice.

The Role
You'll be responsible for delivering high quality employment law advice across a broad range of matters, including:

  • Employment status and associated rights
  • Contracts, handbooks and policy drafting
  • Redundancy, discrimination and workplace investigations
  • HR advisory support including grievances, disciplinaries, performance and sickness management
  • Managing Employment Tribunal claims from ACAS Early Conciliation through to appeals and cost applications
  • Representing clients in Tribunals, mediations and other dispute resolution forums
  • Supporting corporate transactions, commercial matters and injunction/defamation issues
  • Providing legal updates, drafting articles and advising clients on legislative changes
  • Working with Knowledge and Paralegal teams to refine policies, templates and processes
  • Engaging in business development, networking and referrer relationship building


You will work closely with colleagues across the firm, supporting clients in highly unionised, complex and fast moving environments. The role offers excellent training, progression and the opportunity to work on high profile matters involving restructuring, TUPE, whistleblowing, discrimination and large scale investigations.

Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:

  • At least 5 years' PQE in employment law
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK employment legislation and case law
  • Proven experience handling complex employment matters and Tribunal litigation
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and advocacy skills
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical ability
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and work to strict deadlines
  • Commercial awareness and confidence advising HR teams and senior stakeholders
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for contributing to team growth
  • Willingness to engage in business development and relationship building
