Professional Support Lawyer / Knowledge Counsel - Planning (Real Estate Planning) - Bristol
Location: Bristol
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £75,000 - £95,000 (depending on experience)

A leading national Planning team is seeking a Professional Support Lawyer / Knowledge Counsel to support its Band 1 ranked practice delivering major development, energy and infrastructure projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic, growing team and contribute to some of the largest and most complex planning and infrastructure matters in the market.

The Role
You'll be responsible for providing high quality knowledge support to the Planning team, including:

  • Knowledge management - collecting, maintaining and organising planning know how
  • Drafting and updating precedents, styles and technical guidance
  • Research and advisory support for major development and infrastructure projects
  • Supporting work on DCOs, compulsory purchase, planning applications, appeals, marine licences, EIA/HRA, highways matters, judicial review and due diligence
  • Developing and overseeing training programmes, including delivery where required
  • Supporting business development, marketing content and publications
  • Leading innovation and AI initiatives within the Planning team
  • Collaborating closely with Knowledge Counsel colleagues and fee earners across the UK


The role may also include a portion of fee earning work for candidates who wish to maintain hands on planning experience.

Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:

  • Strong experience gained within a recognised planning team
  • Demonstrable interest in knowledge, research, innovation and business development
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong academic background
  • Commercial orientation and commitment to innovation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to meet demanding deadlines
