Family Solicitor - Public Law Care - Cardiff
Location: Cardiff (Hybrid)
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £50,000 to £75,000 (DOE)

A well established regional practice is seeking a dedicated Family Solicitor to join its expanding Family Law team in Cardiff, with a particular focus on public law care proceedings. This is a highly rewarding role offering exposure to complex children law matters and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on vulnerable clients and families.

The Role
You'll manage your own caseload of public law children matters, representing parents, children and other parties involved in care proceedings. Work will include:

  • Care proceedings and Children Act matters
  • Case management hearings, interim applications and contested final hearings
  • Advising on child protection, local authority intervention and threshold issues
  • Drafting clear, persuasive legal documentation (statements, position statements, bundles)
  • Conducting advocacy in the Family Court
  • Working closely with counsel, CAFCASS, local authorities and other professionals
  • Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and regulatory standards


This role offers strong exposure to complex work, excellent support and the opportunity to develop advocacy skills.

Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a Family Solicitor with:

  • Minimum 2 years' PQE in Family Law
  • Strong experience in public law care work and Legal Aid matters
  • Knowledge of private family work (divorce/finance) beneficial
  • Experience supervising or willingness to supervise
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive matters professionally
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Panel membership (Children or Family) advantageous
