Employment Solicitor - Associate / Senior Associate - Bristol
Location: Bristol (Hybrid)
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £65,000 to £85,000 (dependent on experience)
A leading UK practice is seeking an Employment Solicitor to join its highly regarded Employment Team in Bristol. This is a strategic appointment within a large, well established national team advising employers, HR professionals and senior executives across a broad range of contentious and non contentious matters.
The team forms part of the wider Corporate Division and is known for delivering technically excellent, commercially focused advice to major public and private sector clients. With a strong national footprint and a collaborative culture, this is an excellent opportunity for an Associate (3-6 PQE) or Senior Associate (6+ PQE) looking to develop within a high performing employment practice.
The Role
You will advise on a wide range of employment matters, including:
- Employment support on corporate transactions (M&A, TUPE, outsourcing, reorganisations)
- Advising large employer clients on day to day HR and workforce management issues
- Managing Employment Tribunal litigation (unfair dismissal, discrimination, whistleblowing, breach of contract)
- Advising on workplace investigations, grievances, disciplinary matters and misconduct allegations
- Designing and advising on whistleblowing procedures, investigations and governance issues
- Advising on capability, performance management, restructuring and redundancy processes
- Acting for senior executives on recruitment, service agreements, remuneration, exits and boardroom disputes
- Drafting and negotiating employment contracts, executive service agreements, bonus arrangements and workplace policies
- Advising on restrictive covenants, confidentiality obligations, team moves and protection of business interests
- Advising multinational organisations on cross border employment issues and global workforce projects
- Conducting settlement negotiations and drafting settlement agreements
You will also support the wider team with client training, business development and strategic projects.
Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to an Associate or Senior Associate with:
- 3-6 years' PQE (Associate) or 6+ years' PQE (Senior Associate)
- Strong technical employment law experience across contentious and non contentious matters
- Excellent drafting skills and strong commercial judgement
- Ability to deliver high quality client service with minimal supervision
- Strong communication skills and a proactive, collaborative approach
- Ability to manage time, billing and workload efficiently
- Confidence supporting business development, networking and client relationship building
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to professional integrity
- Competence using Microsoft Office, case management and time recording systems
