Court of Protection Solicitor / Legal Executive

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Solicitor or Legal Executive to join a busy and highly experienced Court of Protection team in Exeter.

This role offers the opportunity to work on a broad range of Court of Protection matters within a supportive and well-established team, assisted by modern case management systems and strong administrative support.

The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of Court of Protection work, including managing files and assisting Deputies in dealing with the Court of Protection and the Office of the Public Guardian. You will work closely with vulnerable clients and their families, building long-term relationships and helping to obtain the information required to support best interests decisions.

Responsibilities will include advising on the Mental Capacity Act, assisting with family disputes, preparing Court of Protection applications, drafting Statutory Will applications, representing Deputies at hearings and instructing Counsel where appropriate. The role will also involve investigating concerns regarding financial abuse and providing practical, sensitive advice to clients and their families.

Candidates should possess strong organisational and time management skills, excellent communication abilities and a compassionate, client-focused approach. The ability to explain complex legal issues clearly and effectively, combined with excellent attention to detail, is essential.

The successful candidate will be encouraged to become actively involved in business development and helping to grow the department. STEP qualification is welcomed, and full support will be provided to achieve this qualification if not already obtained.
