Associate / Senior Associate - Employment Solicitor - Cheltenham
Location: Cheltenham
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £65,000 - £95,000 (depending on experience)

A leading Cheltenham firm is seeking an experienced and commercially minded Associate or Senior Associate to join its Employment team. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a collaborative, ambitious and growing practice, advising a broad range of clients and playing a key role in the continued development of the team.

The Role
You'll be responsible for managing your own varied caseload, providing clear, practical and commercially focused advice across the full spectrum of employment law, including:

  • Advising employers and senior employees on contentious and non-contentious matters
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts, policies, settlement agreements and employment documentation
  • Representing clients in negotiations, Employment Tribunal proceedings and ADR
  • Undertaking legal research and keeping up to date with developments in employment law
  • Managing matters effectively, meeting time recording and financial targets
  • Building strong client and referrer relationships
  • Supporting business development through networking, drafting articles and thought leadership
  • Providing TUPE support to Corporate and Commercial Property teams
  • Conducting due diligence on corporate transactions, reporting issues and drafting warranties and indemnities
  • Advising on employment data protection and privacy issues, including DSARs
  • Supervising and developing junior solicitors, trainees and paralegals
  • Delivering employment law training to clients and colleagues
  • Working collaboratively within the team and across the wider firm


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:

  • England & Wales qualification (or equivalent) and at least 4 years' PQE
  • Strong experience managing employment matters with appropriate autonomy
  • Experience conducting Employment Tribunal proceedings
  • Excellent drafting, research, negotiation and communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail and ability to produce high quality work
  • Practical, solutions focused approach with strong organisational skills
  • Confidence building trusted relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Proactive approach to business development and team growth
  • Collaborative working style and ability to support junior colleagues
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and regulatory compliance
