Associate - Employment - Cheltenham - 2-4 Years' PQE

Salary: £60,000 to £75,000 (dependent on experience)
A leading international law firm is seeking an Employment Associate (2-4 years' PQE) to join its highly regarded Cheltenham team. The group advises a diverse client base including businesses, senior executives and entrepreneurs across the UK and internationally. The work is varied, high quality and commercially focused, offering exposure to strategic HR advisory matters, Employment Tribunal litigation, complex exits, restrictive covenants, workplace investigations, TUPE and transactional support.
The team works closely with colleagues across Corporate, Real Estate, Private Client, Immigration and Dispute Resolution, providing excellent opportunities for cross practice collaboration and career development.
The Role
You will work across the full spectrum of employment law, including:
- Advising on employment documentation, policies, disciplinary and grievance processes, family friendly rights, redundancy and GDPR
- Running Employment Tribunal litigation, including drafting pleadings, attending Preliminary Hearings and managing case progression
- Supporting corporate transactions through due diligence, identifying red flag issues, drafting warranties and indemnities, and advising on TUPE
- Advising senior executives on severance terms and exit negotiations
- Handling employment and partnership disputes (High Court CPR knowledge beneficial but not essential)
- Ensuring compliance with all regulatory obligations

Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to an Employment Associate with:
- 2-4 years' PQE (England & Wales qualified or equivalent)
- Strong drafting skills across contentious and non contentious work
- Experience conducting Employment Tribunal proceedings for both Claimants and Respondents
- Familiarity with employment data protection issues, including DSARs
- Experience advising on TUPE and transactional employment matters
- Confidence handling employment status issues and drafting contracts for services
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with a diverse client base
- Excellent time management and the ability to work to tight deadlines
- A pragmatic, results focused approach and willingness to contribute to business development
- Ability to balance independent working with strong team collaboration
