Solicitor - Family - Public Law Care - Stroud
Location: Stroud (Hybrid)
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time
Salary: £50,000 to £75,000 (DOE)

A well established and respected regional law firm is seeking a dedicated Family Solicitor to join its growing Family Law team in Stroud. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive, progressive environment, focusing on complex and sensitive public law children matters, particularly care proceedings.

The Role
You'll be responsible for managing a varied and meaningful caseload of public law children matters, including:

  • Care proceedings and Children Act matters
  • Representing parents, children and other parties throughout proceedings
  • Advocacy at all stages of Family Court hearings
  • Preparing clear, persuasive legal documentation including statements, position statements and bundles
  • Working closely with counsel, CAFCASS, local authorities and other professionals
  • Ensuring compliance with Legal Aid Agency requirements and regulatory standards
  • Contributing to the development and growth of the team

Candidate Requirements

This role is suited to a Family specialist who is:

  • A Solicitor with a minimum of 2 years' PQE in Family Law
  • Experienced in public law care work and Legal Aid processes
  • Confident managing a busy and complex caseload


You will need:

  • Strong advocacy skills and experience in the Family Court
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to handle sensitive matters with empathy and professionalism
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience supervising or willingness to supervise
  • Panel membership (Children or Family) is advantageous
  • Strong IT and case management skills
