Risk and Compliance Manager - Bristol
Are you an experienced Risk and Compliance professional ready to take ownership of a key function within a growing, forward-thinking law firm?
This opportunity sits within a well-established, commercially focused UK firm with a strong regional reputation. The business is known for combining high-quality legal expertise with a modern, client-centric approach, supporting both businesses and individuals across a broad range of services.
The Role
This is a pivotal position within the Compliance team, responsible for managing the firm's day-to-day compliance framework and ensuring all regulatory obligations are met.
You'll take the lead on maintaining compliance across the business, keeping policies, legal registers and risk frameworks up to date, and ensuring the firm adheres to SRA Standards & Regulations, AML legislation, GDPR, and FCA requirements. Alongside this, you'll oversee the file opening process, including conflict checks and risk assessments, and carry out regular file audits to uphold quality and compliance.
The role also involves supervising and developing a Compliance Administrator, supporting anti-money laundering processes (including enhanced due diligence and ongoing monitoring), and preparing Suspicious Activity Reports in collaboration with the MLRO.
Working closely with the Head of Risk & Compliance, you'll contribute to strategic compliance initiatives and stay ahead of regulatory developments. You'll also play a key role in delivering training across the firm, promoting a strong culture of compliance and risk awareness, and producing clear, data-driven reports for senior leadership on a quarterly basis.

- Proven experience as a Compliance Manager within a law firm (essential)
- Strong working knowledge of SRA regulations, Solicitors Accounts Rules, AML and FCA requirements
- Excellent analytical skills and a keen eye for detail
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
- Confident communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to manage competing priorities
Why Join?
- Join a progressive, well-regarded law firm with a strong market reputation
- Take on a high-impact role with real visibility across the business
- Work in a collaborative and supportive environment that values expertise
- Be part of a firm committed to high standards, innovation, and continuous improvement
