Employment Associate - Cheltenham - 2-4 Years PQE
Location: Cheltenham

Salary: £60,000 - £80,000 (depending on experience)

A leading international law firm is seeking an Employment Associate (2-4 PQE) to join its highly regarded Employment team in Cheltenham. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a varied, high quality caseload for a sophisticated client base, including UK and international businesses, senior executives and entrepreneurs.

The team advises on the full spectrum of employment matters, from day to day HR advisory work to complex litigation, restrictive covenant issues, workplace investigations, TUPE and transactional support. You will also work closely with colleagues across Corporate, Real Estate, Private Client, Immigration and Dispute Resolution, offering genuine cross practice exposure.

The Role
You will manage a broad and interesting caseload, including:

  • Advising on employment documentation, policies, disciplinary and grievance matters, family friendly rights, redundancy processes and GDPR
  • Running Employment Tribunal litigation, including drafting pleadings, attending Preliminary Hearings and managing case progression
  • Supporting corporate transactions through due diligence, identifying risk areas, drafting warranties/indemnities and advising on TUPE
  • Advising senior executives on severance terms and exit strategies
  • Handling employment and partnership disputes (High Court experience beneficial but not essential)
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory obligations


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:

  • 2-4 years' PQE in employment law
  • Strong drafting skills across both contentious and non contentious work
  • Experience acting for both Claimants and Respondents in Tribunal matters
  • Familiarity with employment data protection issues, including DSARs
  • Experience advising on TUPE for both buyers and sellers
  • Understanding of employment status issues and drafting consultancy agreements
  • Experience handling grievances, performance issues and disciplinary processes
  • Ability to deliver training to clients and colleagues
  • Strong communication skills and confidence working autonomously and as part of a team
  • A proactive, pragmatic and commercially minded approach
