I'm recruiting on behalf of a leading national law firm for a Solicitor to join their established Medical Negligence team, with flexibility to be based in either Sheffield or Nottingham. This is a great opportunity to work on a broad range of complex clinical negligence cases within one of the UK's most respected claimant practices.

  • Delayed cancer diagnosis
  • Surgical injuries
  • Spinal injury cases
  • Orthopaedic claims
  • Birth injury and cerebral palsy cases

Your work will include:

  • Taking client instructions and providing clear, empathetic legal advice
  • Running your own caseload of clinical negligence matters
  • Assisting Partners and senior solicitors on high‑value and complex claims
  • Seeking interim payments to support client rehabilitation and care
  • Reviewing cases with supervisors to ensure quality and consistency

About You

  • 4-6 years PQE in medical negligence
  • Experience handling complex clinical negligence matters
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
  • Able to attend the Sheffield office 1-2 days per week (or Nottingham with visits to Sheffield)

The Team & Culture

  • Large, well‑established clinical negligence department
  • Team has doubled in size over the last decade
  • Strong supervision and support structure
  • Caseloads capped at around 30 to maintain quality
  • Long‑standing employees and excellent retention
  • Clear progression pathways with regular internal promotions
  • New offices opening in Sheffield and Nottingham later this year

Salary & Benefits

  • £58,000-£66,000 DOE + bonus
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy more
  • Pension (5% employer / 3% employee)
  • Healthcare, digital GP, life assurance and critical illness cover
  • Free parking
  • Two paid volunteering days per year
  • Hybrid working (Wednesday anchor day + one other office day)
  • Wellbeing initiatives and inclusion networks
