We are working with a highly respected, Legal 500 ranked Welsh firm who are looking to recruit an experienced Employment Solicitor (5-8 PQE) to join their award winning employment team in their thriving Cardiff office. This is a fantastic opportunity to take on a varied, high quality caseload acting for employers, senior executives and employees across a broad range of contentious and non contentious matters.

You'll be joining a friendly, collaborative team with a strong reputation across Wales, handling complex advisory work as well as running your own Tribunal cases from start to finish.

This is a busy and diverse role offering exposure to the full spectrum of employment law, including:

Contentious work:

  • Managing Employment Tribunal litigation from instruction to conclusion.
  • Drafting pleadings, handling disclosure, preparing witness statements and supporting advocacy at preliminary hearings.
  • Advising on discrimination, whistleblowing, unfair and constructive dismissal, equal pay, breach of contract and redundancy disputes.
  • Providing strategic guidance on risk, settlement and dispute management.

Non contentious work:

  • Drafting and negotiating employment contracts, service agreements, policies and handbooks.
  • Advising on disciplinary, grievance, performance and capability processes.
  • Supporting restructuring and redundancy exercises.
  • Advising on TUPE, due diligence and employment aspects of corporate transactions.
  • Conducting or assisting with complex internal investigations (disciplinary, grievance or whistleblowing).
  • Providing clear, commercial advice to business owners, HR teams and senior management.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys autonomy, client contact and a genuinely varied workload.

Candidate Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor with 5-8 years' PQE in employment law.
  • Strong experience across both contentious and non contentious matters.
  • Confident managing a busy caseload with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent drafting skills and strong technical knowledge of UK employment law.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships.
  • Organised, proactive and calm under pressure.

Why Join?

  • Competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, private medical cover, enhanced family leave and more.
  • Hybrid working (up to 2 days from home after probation).
  • Supportive, friendly and collaborative culture.
  • High quality, varied employment work with genuine progression opportunities.
