Locum Employment Lawyer

4‑month contract | £50 - £55 per hour

Full or part time | Fully remote considered

We are partnering with a well‑established organisation currently seeking an experienced Employment Lawyer to join them on a locum basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a Solicitor or CILEx‑qualified lawyer with strong contentious experience to step into a busy team and take ownership of a varied caseload.

The role

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of existing Employment Tribunal matters, taking full conduct of each case. You will also review new instructions, assess merits, and provide clear written advice. While the role is largely self‑managed, paralegal or administrative support may be available for tasks such as bundle preparation.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing a caseload of issued Employment Tribunal claims
  • Acting for both Claimant and Respondent clients
  • Preparing pleadings, witness statements, and case strategy
  • Reviewing new matters and producing written merits assessments
  • Liaising with clients, counsel, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensuring cases progress efficiently and in line with deadlines

About you

  • Solicitor or CILEx qualified
  • Minimum 3 years' PQE in contentious employment law
  • Strong experience handling Tribunal litigation from start to finish
  • Confident drafting, advising, and managing client expectations
  • Able to work independently and remotely if required
