Associate / Senior Associate - Energy Projects - Bristol - 5+ Years PQE

A leading commercial practice is seeking an experienced Associate or Senior Associate to join its highly respected and rapidly expanding Energy & Resource Management (ERM) team in Bristol. This is an exceptional opportunity to work at the forefront of the UK's transition to a greener, more sustainable future, advising on high profile, market leading energy and infrastructure projects.

The Role
As a senior member of the ERM team, you will play a key role in delivering major energy and resource management projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading on the procurement and delivery of innovative ERM projects
  • Drafting, negotiating and finalising complex commercial contracts
  • Advising clients on commercial, strategic and regulatory issues
  • Working as part of an integrated advisory team across multiple disciplines
  • Building long term relationships with public and private sector clients
  • Supporting the UK's decarbonisation, sustainability and net zero agenda
  • Supervising junior team members and contributing to team development


Candidate Requirements
The team welcomes applicants from a range of backgrounds, including projects, construction or commercial law. The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • 5+ years PQE
  • Strong commercial contracts or PFI/PPP experience
  • Private practice or in house experience within relevant sectors
  • Excellent technical legal skills and commercial judgement
  • Ability to manage complex issues pragmatically and effectively
  • Confidence leading day to day client interactions
  • Experience supervising junior lawyers
  • Interest in business development and growing client relationships
  • A collaborative, positive and flexible approach

  • Project sponsors and developers
  • Government departments and regulators
  • Local authorities and public sector bodies

  • Energy from Waste and Waste PFI/PPP
  • Heat Networks and District Energy
  • Solar PV and Battery Storage
  • City wide decarbonisation programmes
  • Electric Vehicle infrastructure
  • Hydrogen and Carbon Capture
  • Smart energy projects
  • Onshore and offshore wind
  • Data centre energy solutions
