Are you an experienced commercial litigator ready to take on more complex work and greater responsibility?

A well established national law firm recognised for its strong litigation practice, multi office footprint and long standing partnerships with major insurers, banks and membership organisations is looking for a technically strong Solicitor or FCILEx to join its Contract Resolution team in Cardiff. The firm is known for high quality work, a collaborative culture and a solid presence in legal rankings.

Matters will span commercial and consumer contract claims, misrepresentation, professional negligence, and building related disputes. Work comes from both LEI and private instruction, offering real variety and challenge.

Alongside running your own caseload, you'll supervise a small group of junior case handlers, helping shape their development and contributing to the team's continued growth.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a personal caseload of 25-40 complex, high value contractual disputes
  • Taking ownership of case strategy and client relationships
  • Supervising and mentoring junior case handlers, including strategic guidance and development planning
  • Handling costs issues, including pre proceedings and detailed assessment
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues, clients and business partners
  • Supporting team training, knowledge sharing and best practice

Candidate Requirements
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys technical challenge, autonomy and a varied caseload.

You will bring:

  • Strong technical knowledge across a broad range of commercial and consumer contract disputes
  • Demonstrable experience applying legal principles to complex, multi issue cases
  • Confidence taking full responsibility for case strategy and progression
  • Experience supervising junior team members and supporting their development
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with a wide range of clients and partners
  • Experience dealing with costs matters, including detailed assessment
  • A pragmatic, commercial and solutions focused mindset
  • A collaborative approach to team development

Desirable:

  • Experience working with insurance funded clients
  • Exposure to business development

Qualifications:

  • Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, FCILEx or equivalent experience.

Why Join?
You'll be joining a respected national firm with a strong reputation for quality, consistency and client service. The firm offers the support and resources of a large organisation while maintaining a friendly, collaborative environment where progression is genuinely encouraged.

Benefits include:

  • Excellent annual leave and wellbeing support
  • Health cash plan, lifestyle and gym benefits
  • Hybrid working and "dress for your day" culture
  • Recognition and referral schemes
  • Clear development pathways and routes to qualification
  • Strong commitment to diversity, sustainability and employee wellbeing
