Costs Lawyer / Law Costs Draftsperson - Cardiff
Fantastic opportunity for an experienced Costs Lawyer or Law Costs Draftsperson to join a leading UK full service law firm with a strong national presence and top tier rankings across multiple practice areas. This firm has offices across the UK and is known for handling some of the most complex and high value litigation and group action work in England and Wales.
This is a great chance to join a specialist Costs team that is growing fast and recognised for its expertise in large, high profile PI, group action and commercial cases.
The Role
You'll be part of a highly skilled costs department working on some of the most interesting and complex costs matters in the country. The work is varied, challenging and ideal for someone looking to develop their career in a forward thinking, well resourced team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing Bills of Costs for PI, group action and commercial litigation
- Drafting Points of Dispute and Replies
- Preparing Costs Budgets
- Negotiating and mediating costs settlements
- Attending detailed assessment hearings and CCMCs
You'll work closely with fee earners across the firm, supporting a wide range of departments and contributing to major national cases.
Candidate Requirements
This role will suit someone with:
- Proven experience in a dedicated law costs role
- Strong technical knowledge of costs law and procedure
- Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
- Confident communication and solid IT skills
- A proactive, organised approach and the ability to work as part of a collaborative team
