Senior Associate+ - Clinical Negligence - Cardiff - 5+ Years PQE

Salary: £55,000 to £80,000 (depending on experience)

A leading national law firm is seeking a Principal Associate / Senior Associate+ to join its specialist Healthcare team in Cardiff. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly respected department handling complex, high value defendant clinical negligence matters, with strong opportunities for progression and involvement in client facing initiatives.

The Role
You will manage a varied and high value caseload of defendant clinical negligence claims while contributing to the wider development of the team. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing litigated and pre litigated clinical negligence cases
  • Conducting investigations to repudiate and/or conclude claims
  • Liaising with claimants, solicitors, clients, counsel and medical experts
  • Obtaining documentation and instructing experts
  • Leading or contributing to business development and operational initiatives
  • Completing MI procedures and adhering to client protocols
  • Meeting financial and chargeable targets
  • Ensuring deadlines, quality standards and KPIs are met
  • Supporting and developing junior lawyers
  • Working in line with the firm's values and policies


Candidate Requirements
You will be a qualified solicitor with at least 5 years' PQE and bring:

  • A genuine interest in the healthcare sector
  • Strong technical knowledge of clinical negligence and CPR
  • Excellent communication and client handling skills
  • Rigorous analytical ability and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • The ability to prioritise, multi task and work to strict deadlines
  • A flexible, proactive approach and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
