The Role


A top 100 national law firm is seeking an experienced Marine lawyer (Senior Associate to Partner level) to join its highly regarded Marine team. This is a standout opportunity to work within a Tier 1 Legal 500 ranked practice recognised as a leading adviser to ports, harbours and marine developers across the UK.

You'll work closely with a nationally recognised team handling a broad and fascinating caseload, advising on:

  • Port and harbour regulatory matters
  • Marine and coastal development
  • Commercial and logistics issues
  • Marine related litigation and disputes
  • Environmental, planning and consenting matters
  • Wider port sector operational and strategic issues


The team acts for around 100 ports including some of the largest port groups in the UK and globally and the volume of work continues to grow rapidly. From day one, you'll take on meaningful responsibility within a friendly, collaborative and well established team.

Candidate Requirements

  • 7+ years' PQE with strong experience advising on port, harbour or marine related matters.
  • Background may be in litigation, regulatory, commercial, development or a blend.
  • Confident managing complex matters and building long term client relationships.
  • Strong communicator with genuine enthusiasm for the ports and marine industry.
  • Comfortable with client contact, networking and business development.
  • Resilient, organised and able to manage competing deadlines.
  • Ambitious, self motivated and ready to take on significant responsibility with clear progression opportunities.
