A well‑established regional law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join its busy Finance Team at its head office in Walsall. This is a full‑time, office‑based position with working hours of Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.

About the role

The firm is looking for someone with 2-3 years' experience in a law firm finance function and a solid understanding of the Solicitors Accounts Rules. You'll play a key role in the day‑to‑day running of the accounts department, supporting fee‑earners and the wider business.

Key responsibilities

  • Handling client payments, both in person and over the phone, and issuing receipts

  • Monitoring HSBCnet for incoming funds and allocating them to the correct ledgers

  • Preparing daily banking and attending the bank to pay in

  • Posting receipts and payments to client and office ledgers

  • Producing weekly new‑matter reports for Heads of Department

  • Preparing Priority and BACS payments via HSBCnet

  • Processing cheque requests through the case management system

  • Creating time and ledger breakdowns in a client‑friendly format

  • Checking completion statements, processing client invoices, and managing purchase ledger invoices

  • Assisting with payment runs

  • Providing cover for colleagues during absence

  • Supporting the Finance Manager and Practice Director with ad‑hoc tasks

What you'll bring

  • Strong communication and organisational skills

  • Confident IT ability, particularly in Excel

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to explain financial information clearly

  • A collaborative approach within a small, supportive team

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
