Private Client Associate (1-4 PQE)

Role Overview


Opportunity to join a leading Private Client team advising UHNW/HNW individuals, families and business owners on UK and international tax, succession and wealth structuring. The role involves high quality technical work, regular client contact and collaboration with colleagues across Private Wealth, Corporate, Real Estate and Dispute Resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide UK and international tax advice and planning solutions
  • Implement structuring and planning recommendations, coordinating with internal teams and overseas advisers
  • Manage matters from instruction to completion, including scoping, fee estimates, client updates and billing
  • Liaise with intermediaries such as trustees, bankers and financial advisers
  • Manage HMRC enquiries and disclosures
  • Advise on founder/management equity, employment related securities and incentive arrangements
  • Draft deeds, agreements and Wills
  • Conduct research on tax, trusts and related areas
  • Support other departments on matters involving HNW/UHNW clients


General Responsibilities

  • Act as primary contact on allocated matters and manage competing workloads
  • Lead workstreams on multi disciplinary projects
  • Produce documentation in line with internal standards
  • Meet financial and performance targets
  • Contribute to business development and marketing initiatives
  • Supervise junior team members where required
  • Maintain up to date technical knowledge and contribute to internal training
  • Maintain awareness of corporate tax issues relevant to privately held businesses


Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales) or overseas qualified with relevant UK experience
  • Strong academic background
  • Minimum 1 year's PQE in tax or international private client work
  • ATT, CTA or STEP qualifications (or willingness to study)
  • Demonstrated client care skills and experience of direct client engagement
  • Commercial awareness and ability to work with entrepreneurial clients
  • Strong communication skills, professional presentation and ability to build trusted relationships
  • Flexible, collaborative and committed to high quality work
