A leading UK law firm is seeking an ambitious Associate or Senior Associate (4+ years PQE) to join its highly regarded Planning and Infrastructure Consenting Team in Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity to work on major regional and nationally significant developments, with high levels of responsibility from the outset.

The Role
You will work on a broad range of planning and infrastructure matters, including:

  • Large scale strategic development
  • Nationally significant energy and infrastructure projects
  • Planning obligations and Community Infrastructure Levy
  • Lawful development certificates and highways matters
  • Advising national and regional housebuilders, land promoters and local authorities
  • Supporting property teams on acquisitions and disposals
  • Advising on contentious planning matters including enforcement, compulsory purchase, judicial reviews, statutory challenges and appeals
  • You will manage your own caseload while working closely with partners and colleagues across the firm's offices, handling high quality, high value work.


Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 4 years' PQE in planning law
  • Bring experience from a reputable national, regional or city firm
  • Ideally have exposure to residential development and energy related planning matters
  • Be an excellent communicator with strong technical and organisational skills
  • Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure
  • Be confident building strong client relationships and understanding commercial objectives
  • Show genuine interest in planning policy, development, and the wider energy and infrastructure sector
  • Be self motivated, ambitious and keen to grow professionally
  • A passion for supporting clean energy and climate related development is highly valued.
