Interim Senior Legal Counsel - Defence & Energy (ASAP start)

4-5 month initial contract | Hybrid (Surrey) or fully remote

Daily rate dependent on experience

A major organisation operating across the Defence and Energy sectors is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to provide support to their legal team.

The role

You'll be providing broad commercial legal support across a range of complex, high‑value matters. The work will include:

• Reviewing, drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements
• Supporting major projects in the Defence and Energy sectors
• Advising on tenders and government terms & conditions
• Providing general commercial advisory support to internal stakeholders
• Assisting with precedent development and internal legal processes

What they're looking for

• 10+ PQE with the ability to hit the ground running
• Strong commercial contracts background
• Experience in Defence, Energy, or other regulated/project‑driven sectors
• Experience in an in-house legal team
• Ability to work autonomously and manage a varied workload
• Security Clearance will be required

Working arrangements

• Hybrid working available, with flexibility
• Fully remote considered for the right candidate
• Full‑time or part‑time - the team is open to both
