Senior Associate - Clinical Negligence - Newport - 5+ Years PQE

A respected and forward-thinking law firm is seeking a Senior Associate Solicitor with 5+ years' post-qualification experience in Clinical Negligence to join its established team in Newport. This is a leadership role offering the opportunity to shape departmental strategy, mentor junior staff, and contribute to the firm's wider business goals-all within a flexible hybrid working model.

The Role
You'll be responsible for:

  • Managing a caseload of complex clinical negligence matters
  • Leading and developing fee-earners and support staff within the department
  • Supporting the firm's business plan and contributing to strategic initiatives
  • Attending external business development events (target: 1 per month)
  • Participating in management meetings and subcommittees
  • Strengthening client relationships and introducing new business
  • Ensuring a safe and productive working environment


Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a qualified solicitor with:

  • Admission to the Solicitors Roll or Institute for Paralegals
  • 5+ years PQE in clinical negligence or related litigation
  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team
  • Strong strategic thinking and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • High attention to detail and professional standards
  • Confidence in balancing competing priorities and managing conflict
  • Understanding of health and safety responsibilities in the workplace


Desirable:

  • Willingness to work outside normal office hours when reasonably required
