Conflicts Advisor - Risk & Compliance - UK Offices - 3+ Years' Experience
Location: Flexible across UK offices (with hybrid working)
Type of Role: Permanent, Full-time (35 hours per week, flexible)
Salary: £45,000 to £60,000
A leading national law firm is seeking a skilled and experienced Conflicts Advisor to join its Risk & Compliance function. This is an exciting opportunity to support the firm's client and matter onboarding processes, lateral hire screening, and conflict of interest management. The role sits within the Can I Act (CIA) team, a specialist group focused on business protection and regulatory compliance.
The Role
You'll be responsible for assessing new mandates and advising on conflicts and compliance issues. Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing conflict reports and identifying legal, commercial, or reputational risks
- Advising legal teams on conflict search results and clearance procedures
- Investigating new and amended instructions for potential conflicts
- Liaising with partners and fee earners to resolve conflicts of interest
- Establishing information barriers and managing insider lists
- Supporting informed consent processes and documenting conditions for mandate acceptance
- Maintaining conflict records and systems (including Intapp and blackbook)
- Assisting with training, policy updates, and internal communications
- Escalating complex queries to senior risk team members
- Contributing to strategic improvements and development of CIA processes
Candidate Requirements
This role is suited to a compliance professional with:
- A graduate-level education and 3+ years' experience in risk and compliance
- Strong knowledge of professional conflict rules in England & Wales (Scotland and NI preferred)
- Experience using Intapp or similar onboarding tools
- Practical understanding of conflict identification and management
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to manage workload and stakeholder expectations
- A collaborative mindset and commercial awareness
