Our client has a strong national reputation as a specialist advisor to the insurance sector on regulatory matters, acting for an established client base comprising major insurers and corporates. The Crime and Regulatory department is recruiting for an experienced solicitor to join its team of technical specialists, dealing with complex regulatory work covering health and safety, environmental, motor crime, nursing and care sectors. The role will be client facing and involve assisting lawyers from the outset, on the day of the incident and throughout the investigation to conclusion. Key responsibilities will include conducting site visits, analysing evidence, preparing witness statements, liaising with the courts, coroners and prosecution authorities, preparing for interviews under caution and attending criminal court hearings. There will also be the opportunity to provide training and mentoring to junior staff as well as develop client relationships.
The successful applicant will be a qualified solicitor dedicated to providing quality technical advice in this sensitive and challenging area. You will have previous experience of handling a caseload of either motor crime, regulatory or casualty EL/PL claims ideally with exposure to health and safety regulatory aspects, including disclosure. Applications from legal aid lawyers with experience of conducting police station interviews or prosecutors with a motor crime background are welcome.
Attention to detail, good communication skills, an aptitude for teamwork and excellent IT and analytical skills are essential for this role as is an ability to work under pressure, keep to deadlines and prioritise your own workload.
