My client is one of the leading commercial firms in Cardiff and now seeking an experienced commercial litigation lawyer ideally at around 4+ pqe looking...
Are you a commercial lawyer looking for a new role for 2020? Are you fed up with every day being the same? This could be just what you're looking for then..
My client is a top 100 UK law firm now looking to grow their burgeoning commercial and infrastructure department with a commercial lawyer with at least 4 years experience as a solicitor. The team is led by a highly personable Chambers recommended Partner and is ranked top tier in both this publication and the Legal 500. Not only is this a team that gains high praise and only works on the very highest quality and cutting edge instructions but manages to retain a friendly and relaxed working environment.
As for the work itself, much of it comes from procurements of infrastructure projects or service provision but instructions are very broad in nature and you will find yourself working very closely with other teams on "projects" - often working with the state aid team, construction and projects departments to reach a solution. A lot of the work is about "creating new structures"/finding new ways of doing something for instance in relation to joint ventures and contract management. You are often working with Local Governments in a "trusted advisor" capacity trying to help them find even better ways of managing their organisations and renegotiating and enforcing what they already have in place. In this way, you will need to have good client care skills and really enjoy forming close working relationships with organisations that look to you for real guidance. The team cross over closely with the projects team as the effects of PFIs has in part led to a real surge in infrastructure work.
Whilst much of your work will involve working with clients in the public sector you will find that around 20% of your work is with clients in the private sector. In this way you will enjoy working with a range of clients and have the ability to tailor your approach as needed to display strong empathy and communication skills.
A superb role for someone who is perhaps fed up with their current commercial lawyer role and seeking something rather different; both in terms of the quality of work on offer (Band 1 Chambers) and working environment- genuinely down to earth and for such a successful firm, laid back.
