A large council legal team in the West Midlands is looking to recruit an interim Childcare Lawyer on an on-going basis, to assist them whilst they embark on their own permanent recruitment drive. This assignment is full time but candidates who want to work 30 hours a week will also be considered. Up to 2 days from home per week can be offered as well.
Working as part of the People Directorate you will be responsible for advising on all aspects of public childcare law, as well undertaking your own advocacy.
The issues of the cases will include: Neglect, Domestic Violence, Drug and Alcohol abuse, FGM, Non -accidental injury, Sexual Abuse and Human Rights Issues.
In addition to this, you will provide advice to the council's social work team as well as general legal support throughout the council.
It is important that you have:
- A proven background in public or private child care law either as a fee earner, local government lawyer, or paralegal/legal executive
- Have dealt with a wide range of cases, and are therefore able to apply this experience quickly and efficiently
- Have a positive attitude, and are quick to learn
- Thrive in an intellectually stimulating place
The role is due to start as soon as possible and is expected to run for at least 6 months. An hourly rate of up to £42 per hour is offered for this role and excitingly this assignment has been deemed outside the scope of IR35. The hourly rate offered will be dependent upon the level of your experience.
