The role of Senior Legal Counsel reports to the Head of Legal who in turn reports to the General Counsel.
When this vacancy is filled, there will be 4 lawyers in the Legal Team, including the Head of Legal.
The organisation's in-house Legal Team provides a wide range of legal advice and support to the business which can comprise a mixture of commercial contracts (as either customer or supplier), corporate work, regulatory and governance advice, IP and licensing, data protection and occasional small-scale dispute work.
The main focus of the role will be to review contracts and provide feedback on legal terms and conditions as well as analysing legal/commercial risk within the contracts and proposing mitigation. Developing supplier contracts to support delivery of commitments to clients. Drafting and reviewing any other contracts that the business may require including hardware, software, supply contracts, outsourcing and licenses. Responding to a wide variety of legal queries, from all parts of the business, giving clear, consistent and practical advice on contract interpretation.
The successful candidate will ideally have more than 6 years' PQE and will be able to demonstrate the ability to review, draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements as well as the ability to manage risk and provide common sense legal solutions to stakeholders.
You will be the the only lawyer based in the regional office as the GC and Head of legal are based in London however the CEO and Board are predominantly based in the regional office so we need someone with gravitas and credibility to be able to deal with senior stakeholders. The role may suit someone who has previously been a Head of Legal or Senior Counsel.
You will have a background in either private practice or in-house coupled with demonstrable commercial contract experience and the ability to engage and provide real world legal solutions to the business. A competitive salary and benefits are on offer.
