A new locum opportunity has arisen in the East Midlands for a Commercial Contracts Lawyer. This hiring client is a local authority who serve a large and diverse area. The council are surrounded by major towns and cities and is therefore easily reached by public transport. This is an ongoing full time assignment, although part time applications will be considered on a case by case basis.
This in -house legal services team serve many public sector organsiations and deliver a range of services from general employment advice to delivering on major infrastructure projects. Their clients include schools, local authorities, academies as well as government departments.
The lawyers in the commercial contracts team have a diverse range of backgrounds from both public and private sectors. They work solidly as a team and build strong relationships with their clients and each other. The ideal candidate will be a team player and will enjoy working within this busy unit.
The post holder will join this team of experienced lawyers and together they will advise on wide ranging and complex matters from the perspective of a commercial lawyer, including: construction, buildings, engineering, utilities, major infrastructure, roads, rail, waste, demolition, industrial, retail, education, information and data protection.
Duties will include:
- Drafting and negotiating a range of agreements, including: collaboration, partnership, funding, affiliation, shared services agreements, joint ventures etc.
- Advising on procurement law matters, including: EU public procurement directives, public contracts regulations, governance, social care and health, IT, framework agreements, OJEU notices, ITT and commissioning
- Handling social care and health commercial matters including: procurement advice, tender documentation, housing projects, contract management, suspension/termination notices and national health services act agreements
- Providing a legal service with regards to State Aid and competition
Hourly rate is negotiable dependent upon experience but as a guideline a bracket of £30 - £40 per hour has been discussed. Applicants should be qualified Solicitors, Barristers or Legal Executives.
