This legal services team is seeking to add a Planning & Highways Lawyer to their team on a locum basis for a period of at least 3 months. The team are committed to providing high quality legal advice and are keen to recruit a like minded individual.
Solicitors or Legal Executives will find this opportunity a great chance to join a busy team of friendly professionals. The purpose of the post is to focus on transactional work with the post holder using their communication and drafting skills on a range of complex property matters.
The post holder will get to develop and expand their skills and experience working in a friendly and supportive environment.
Duties will include:
- Advising on a wide range of highways issues including highway extinguishment orders and road drainage,
- Drafting and negotiating highways agreements and bonds relating to the constructions of roads and highways
- Advising on assorted planning matters including: Compulsory Purchase Orders, Environmental Law and Corporate Governance
- Advising on the establishment of town markets, formation and designation of trunk roads and zoned parking
- Advising on general town planning, highways and engineering issues
Applicants should have at least 5 year's post qualification experience in planning/highways law from either the public or private sector. Applicants must also hold a current valid practicing certificate. This position is office based, with the team working in a busy and open plan office environment. There will be a requirement to attend meetings regionally, therefore applicants must have access to their own vehicle. All mileage and parking will be reimbursed by the clients.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or FILEx with good understanding of local government law. The candidate will need demonstrable specialist knowledge of highways legislation and policy and be able to apply this with the context of local government. Knowledge of democratic decision making in local government and complaints policy and process would be advantageous.
Hourly rate is negotiable dependent upon experience but candidates can expect an offer of £38 per hour. (Inside IR35). This is a full time post with a contract of 37 hours weekly on offer.
