Locum Commercial Property Lawyer - Local Authority - Home Counties
Chadwick Nott is currently handling recruitment on behalf of a Home Counties-based Local Authority. The authority has a requirement for a Locum Commercial Property Lawyer to join their busy team on an ongoing basis, to assist with an excess caseload and while they seek to appoint a permanent member of the team.
The locum will be in post for a minimum period of three months, with likely extension and can expect to command an hourly rate between £35-£45 per hour depending on experience (inside IR35). The right candidate will also have the flexibility of homeworking after an initial period.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
- To undertake general non-contentious work for the Council, focusing in particular on legal work relating to transactional commercial and general property, highways law and some s.106 planning agreements
- To support, mentor and monitor junior staff
- As required, to provide legal advice to the Council's Charity Trustee Committee both orally and in report form in relation to trust assets which the Council is trustee of
- To be the legal advisor on projects such as (but not limited to) development projects and to be an effective member of that project team alongside officers from client services and senior officers.
The ideal candidate should have extensive, demonstrable experience of handling commercial property matters on behalf of local authorities such as the examples highlighted above.
