Fantastic new position for a property lawyer with a passion for the countryside!
If you are a commercial property lawyer with a passion for the countryside and are looking for a role where you really feel like you are working in partnership with your clients then this could be just the move you're looking for.
Our client is an established practice with offices in Somerset and Dorset. They are currently seeking a property lawyer to join one of their offices and to work with their L500 ranked team. You will be working with locally based agricultural clients many of whom are very loyal to the firm and some are now 3rd generation clients. The work is very wide ranging and you will be working closely with farmers and other agribusinesses to support them in their plans whether this is to grow the business or to future proof what they have or in some cases to help them survive current challenges. The issues can touch on a variety of areas; dealing with land issues (sales and purchases), environmental or energy matters or rules and regulations relating to food/drink production.
From a practical point of view a background in agricultural work would be ideal, but this role is as much about attitude and finding someone who is passionate about this area of law. The firm could consider a solid commercial property lawyer who has enough experience to be able to work autonomously but who is perhaps new to agricultural law. At interest in agricultural matters, outdoor pursuits, the countryside and/or the environment is essential. The rest of the team have lots of experience in this area of law and would be happy to pass on their knowledge of this specialist area particularly to someone who was keen to learn.
Getting on with clients and building long term relationships is a key part of this role. You should enjoy be personable and enjoy meeting people and getting out and about. No two days will be the same and you need to be prepared to visit clients on site so should be happy to keep a pair of wellies in your car and jump on a tractor or go along to the local cattle market or agricultural show. If you're coming from a traditional commercial property background the marketing and business development aspect of this role could be quite different to what you've been used to previously but hopefully a bit more enjoyable and with more of a "human" feel to it.
The firm are flexible about office location and are happy for you to work from home occasionally if this is something that appeals.
