Our client, a leading FMCG company require an Employment Counsel -Europe on a Maternity FTC 12 month basis.

The role will be offering focussed employment legal advice to the organisation on areas as diverse as dismissals, discrimination, Data Privacy, terms & conditions, changes to policy, Employee Relations, industrial relations, redundancy and Change strategy advice amongst others

Role Responsibilities:

Business Partnering:

Support the Global HR agenda, advisory work across the geography of Europe but predominantly for any HR team based in the UK, providing the HR function with commercial, business focussed legal advice enabling efficient use of external resources and management of external counsel to simplify and speed up decision making and action.

Risk Management:

Support the HR Compliance agenda across Global & Europe projects, advising, where appropriate via management of external counsel, on areas where potential issues could arise eg termination strategy, global changes to policy.

Cost Management:

Manage and oversee end-to-end legal spend for HR in Europe including managing and reviewing on a regular basis the panel of firms retained for HR advice in Europe and conducting tenders where appropriate. Responsible for instruction of all external instructions including settlement agreement drafting and negotiation.

Legal Function Leadership

Liaise with relevant lawyers within the organisation, in particular Europe General Counsel and General Counsel Corporate. Work in conjunction with regional market lawyers and supply lawyers within Europe on projects with an interconnected employment law requirement.

Essential skills:

  • Lawyer qualified in Scotland or England & Wales, with a background in employment law and ideally experience of managing HR legal issues across Europe gained in leading law firm and relevant in-house experience.
  • Proven track record of managing wide legal and compliance agenda, complex transactional, contract drafting, & negotiation and dealing effectively with external legal service providers.

This role will be offered on a pro rata FTC basis in the region of 92K + benefits package.
