Leading IT driven market research company that operates globally from an HQ in London. An opportunity has arisen for a new General Counsel to reinvigorate the legal team at a key stage in the company's development.

Reporting to the Group Head of Governance & Company Secretary, the Group General Counsel role is focused on four key areas:

1. Working with the Group Head of Governance & Company Secretary to set and drive the Group legal risk management framework and legal function strategy

2. Oversee and contribute to the transformation of the legal function, with a focus on developing a team of commercial lawyers and efficient processes to support the global business

3. Oversee the Group's legal position, and conduct of legal matters facing the Group from time to time, including those of a corporate and commercial nature, as well as any contentious matters

4. Provide high quality legal advice and support to the Group and its senior management teams

What will I be delivering?

Manage a small team of commercial lawyers to support the global business

Provide legal advice and support on commercial contracts, intellectual property, data protection and privacy, employment, M&A and corporate law

Negotiate commercial IP and data protection matters to a high degree of complexity

Convey and explain complex legal concepts to internal and external stakeholders

Advise on contracts with third parties (including clients, partners and suppliers), either taking the lead in negotiating and drafting, or delegating that to the team

Help to guide and make management teams aware of relevant laws, regulations and ethical codes and how to comply with these

Keep up-to-date with legislative and regulatory developments that may affect the Group's business and, as appropriate, advise on appropriate strategies to respond to them.
