A broad ranging and hands-on role in a fast growing business that is based in West London and affords very easy access from the neighbouring home counties. You will provide, commercial and contractual legal advice to the businesses in the revenue generation, procurement and IT areas, with the ability to lead on negotiations, draft and review contracts.
The role holder will provide legal advice on general commercial contracts that affect the businesses with a view to promoting compliance with contractual, legal and regulatory requirements. Key commercial responsibilities will include negotiating, drafting, reviewing contractual documentation, and producing standard form contracts, precedents and guidance on contractual matters. The role holder will also be responsible for identifying risks and opportunities in commercial agreements and pro-actively finding ways to mitigate or remove risks.
The role holder may be required to independently conduct negotiations to resolve disputes, review and advise on likely liabilities arising from contractual or other disputes and on occasion manage the dispute resolution process through use of Counsel or external panel solicitors.
He/she will have knowledge of different areas of law, including commercial, contract and negligence. Other areas which would be desirable, although not essential, would include some knowledge of regulatory law (competition law, IT/IP, procurement, judicial review, aviation law), health & safety law, environmental law and security law issues. There must be a willingness to learn if those areas are unfamiliar. Other areas of law that the role holder will be likely to cover include data protection, bailment, some criminal areas (trespass, assault, criminal damage, byelaw enforcement) and defamation. Currently working at leading City or regional law firm or in-house, you will be keen to work directly with non-lawyers where you actions will be visible to senior management.
