An exciting opportunity has arisen to be the In-house Counsel to Volvo Financial Services’ operations based in Warwick providing legal advice in the UK, Republic of Ireland, Belgium and Netherlands.
Reporting to the EMEA Business Services Director the role will provide high quality legal support across this fast-paced and challenging region including working in such areas as finance law, general corporate law, legal compliance, governance, commercial transactions and product support, capital markets, trade finance, insurance and litigation management relating to its finance portfolio. The position would include being a member of the local management team.
Responsibilities will include drafting and negotiating commercial contracts that provide financial and related services to customers and dealers of the Volvo Group and establishing legal best practices, policies and procedures. The role will also advise on Consumer Credit Act and FCA compliance including Gabriel returns, responding to FCA audits and questionnaires, managing FCA Approved Person/Senior Manager returns and advising office holders and senior managers of their personal responsibilities. Other general legal ad-hoc matters including managing litigation and implementing a risk management strategy will also form part of the role.
The successful candidate will be a qualified solicitor or barrister with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE and possess a strong general commercial background and preferably has undertaken in-house roles with experience of asset based finance, financial services regulation, insurance mediation, anti-money laundering regulation, general commercial law and data protection.
In addition to possessing strong academic results and training and experience at a top tier firm or in-house, you must exhibit strong personal credibility, be a skilled communicator and capable of interacting with the business at all levels.
