Meet Graham de Guise - TLT Solicitors - December 2011

Chadwick Nott recently caught up with Graham de Guise, HR Director of TLT Solicitors, to ask him a few questions on TLT, his career and everything in between...

1. How long have you worked at TLT?

I joined in February 2007 having worked for 2 years as an HR Director for a medium sized plc in the technology space. Prior to that I was with Ernst & Young for 7 years.

2. What do you like about the firm that makes it different to others?

The firm has an amazing culture – open, entrepreneurial, supportive and truly innovative. As a result we have won some major awards including being voted as a  'Best Legal Employer' in last year's Legal Week's Employee Satisfaction Survey and being accredited as a 'Best Company to Work for' (one of  only16 law firms in the UK).

3. What's the toughest thing about your job?

'Arguing' your point with a Litigator.

4. If you weren't an HR Director, what would you be?

A Motoring Journalist. I 'grew up' with cars as my Father was in the Motor Industry for most of his life. When I was a kid and my Father brought a new car home, I would sit in it on the drive for hours, I'm not sure that excitement has ever left me.

5. What car do you drive?

A BMW 3 series diesel – sensible but I have a long commute.

6. Name two famous people you would invite to a dinner party, and why?

Brian Johnson  - former BBC Cricket Commentator, brilliant raconteur, utterly hilarious and a true gent
Keith Floyd – he could do the cooking.

7. What are the biggest challenges facing law firms in 2012?

Consolidation in the legal market place; the changes that The Legal Services Act will bring together with new entrant; continued pressure on margins and the need to use resources creatively and effectively.
